The shelf life of a tiger-skin cake roll depends on whether it has been opened and the storage environment. Generally, an unopened tiger-skin cake roll stored in a cool, dry place can last for several months, with some products even labeled as having a shelf life of 120 days.

Storage instructions after opening:

If the tiger-skin cake roll has a cream filling, it needs to be refrigerated and sealed with plastic wrap. The best-before date is generally three days.

If the filling is not cream but a sauce of other textures, it needs to be frozen. The best-before date is 5 to 7 days. Before eating, thaw in the refrigerator for 45 minutes, then microwave for 3 minutes.

Extended Shelf Life Freezing Storage Method:

After ensuring the cake roll has completely cooled, follow these steps for storage:

Sealing: If not buttered, tightly wrap the cake roll with parchment paper or plastic wrap and place it in a sealed bag or container. If buttered, it is recommended to tightly wrap the entire cake roll with plastic wrap, then wrap it with aluminum foil, and finally place it in a sealed bag or container.

Marking the Date: Mark the freezing date on the outside of the packaging to indicate the storage time. It can usually be stored in the freezer for about 1 to 2 months.

Avoid Repeated Freezing: Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as much as possible to prevent affecting the cake's texture and quality.

Thawing: After removing the cake roll from the freezer, it can be thawed in the refrigerator, which usually takes several hours. If time is short, it can also be thawed at room temperature, but not for too long.

Notes:

If the cake roll is spread with regular whipped cream, freezing may affect the texture, as the cream may become slightly coarse after thawing.

For a better texture after freezing, use a more stable cream, such as cream with added stabilizers or butter.
